Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

Good news – we’re now being copied! Why is this cause for celebration? Well, we figured it means we’re onto something here with Hiring Hub if people are going to the trouble of investing their time and energy (although on the evidence below they didn’t invest that much) in trying to replicate our platform.

So thank you, Change Exchange. We welcome you to the party. Like you, we believe the future of the recruitment agency market will be driven by marketplaces like Hiring Hub that champion small, independent recruiters, and help them make friends and place candidates with great companies. At the same time helping those great employers fill jobs faster with a bit less hassle.

It would, however, had been nice if you’d perhaps not completely copied and pasted the text on our website and placed it on your website in a bid to pass it off as your own. Ditto the explainer video that the team here at Hiring Hub lovingly created a few years ago. Okay, so while they’re flattered you liked it so much you simply altered the background colour and placed your logo where the Hiring Hub one would normally be, as creatives it hurts them a little that you stole it from them.

Still, they saw the funny side. Likewise our team of software developers who work hard every day to build a better product for our customers. They too were impressed you managed to gain access to our platform and copy it verbatim. They wanted to point out, though, that when plagiarising software, it’s good practice to cover your tracks: leaving mentions of “Hiring Hub” littered around the backend ain’t too subtle.

Damn, nearly forgot… our super-jolly Customer Relationship are a bit cheesed-off with you, Michael James Grace, the founder, sole director and Big Cheese at Change Exchange Group, for registering as an independent recruitment agency on Hiring Hub with your other business, Change Resourcing Recruitment to understand how we go about onboarding agencies, and let your devs have a closer look at the platform.

(Again, we checked-out your LinkedIn profile and big bro-hug for being “probably the world’s best recruiter.” That’s some title. No doubt through hard work you’ve earned it, so well done Gracie!)

They forgive you though, Michael, because they too are chuffed to bits that we’re now big enough and making enough noise in the industry that, where we lead, others follow. High five to that! Although they did wish to point out that owning a recruitment agency might be something of a conflict of interest if you want to be trusted and provide a neutral vendor platform for employers and recruitment agencies…

One last thing. Our contact at Google sadly didn’t get back to us but we checked with a pal at Microsoft and they don’t recall working with you, so you may want to take their logo off your homepage? Although, she did say that, admittedly, it’s a big company so a Hiring Manager could have gone rogue and tried you out. We won’t question your integrity so kudos for getting Microsoft onboard after just two weeks!

Anywho, in light of the above we could drag the IP lawyers in and go legal on you but we don’t fancy the dilution of our energy and focus, and besides, we know starting out is tough and we have heaps of respect for anyone that gives it a go, so instead you’ll get a polite letter from our in-house counsel who’s going to ask if you’d be so kind as to write your own copy for your website, build your platform UX, and perhaps consider making a new video (she’s also a little bemused that you copied her Privacy Policy and Terms).

The rest of the Hiring Hub team would just like to say thanks for the giggles. And we’d like you to know that you can copy our platform and material, but you can’t replicate the thing that makes Hiring Hub great: its team spirit and dedication to giving first class customer service, which is driven first and foremost by its people.

Peace out.
