HH Product Update – What we did in February

Hello and welcome to the February edition of the Hiring Hub product update!

Building on the momentum of January, February was an equally big month for us all at HH Tech. New features being released left, right and centre, and a shiny new starter – we’re flying! As a reward for all of our hard work, we were thoroughly spoiled with a delicious team breakfast. Just look how happy we all are! 👆

Saying Hello

We’re delighted to introduce Amy, our Senior Business Analyst. We’re so excited to have Amy joining us on our Hiring Hub journey. There’s already a stack of great things waiting for her – hopefully you’ll see it soon

CV Count

If you were a recruitment agency submitting candidates to roles, wouldn’t it be great if you could see how many times the employer has viewed the CV you’ve submitted? What if you could see when they downloaded it, too?

This is now in place for our agency users. This feature gives the agency user a better understanding of whether the CV submitted with the application has been read. Prior to this change, the agency users could only see if the overall application had been read or not.

Our goal with this feature is to present more information to the agency users about their applications, so they can feedback to candidates in a timely manner.

We’ve already had some great feedback on this feature! Within an hour of the live release, we received this lovely piece of feedback from an agency user. This is such powerful feedback for the whole team, as they can see the direct impact of their work on users.

For our agency users reading this, you can check it out on the candidate application page.

How-to guide

To help our employer users to become even more self-serving, we’ve been creating a ‘How To’ guide for the times our users may need assistance and we’re not around. After all, recruitment is not a 9 to 5 business.

We’ve put together a list of critical actions that our employer users should be able to do on their account. Each of these actions is accompanied by a screen recording and description, to make it as easy as possible to do what you need to do.

For any employer users reading this, let us know if there are any other actions you would like documented on here. We’re always looking for feedback. You can find it here 👇

Overdue Feedback Notifications

Something we’re very conscious of here at Hiring Hub, is overdue feedback on candidate applications.

It may appear to only be a card on a board on a computer screen, but there’s a real person represented by that card, waiting to hear if they got the job.

For context, when an employer user posts a role on Hiring Hub, they are required to give a feedback timescale for the job. This is the time in which they are committing to providing feedback on all applications.

As such, we’ve created a new overdue feedback notification system. This system scans the database for any applications that have breached the agreed feedback timescale at the time the job was posted – e.g 48 hours. If that timescale has been breached, an email is sent to the employer user who posted the job, notifying them of any overdue applications that need their attention.

The purpose of this change is to reduce the number of applications that have overdue feedback, which in turn, will reduce the time to hire for each role and for HH overall. This means employer users will have better experiences as they fill vacancies faster, and recruitment agencies will have better experiences as they get faster feedback.

To our employer users reading this, we understand this change may be irritating to begin with, but please understand that this contributes to the overall success of the marketplace.

Exclusive Jobs

We’re often asked by our agency users if the jobs we have on the platform are ‘exclusive’ to Hiring Hub. It’s an interesting question, but what does exclusive mean? Recruitment is a problem employers solve by pulling on several different levers such as LinkedIn, job boards, referral schemes, internal recruiters, their own website, etc. If we could create an exclusive job feature, how could we define what “exclusive” meant considering all possible channels?

After grappling with this question, we determined our answer: an exclusive job is defined by Hiring Hub as a role has not been shared with any other external recruitment agencies (so the employer is exclusively using HH to find and work with recruiters).

We appreciate that employers may have their own in-house talent functions and careers pages, but they must be using HH as an exclusive agency channel for their role to qualify as “exclusive.”

The purpose of the feature is to allow agency users to view and engage on roles that they know are exclusive to HH – according to the definition above. This tells the agency users that the employer user is more engaged in the process, and will therefore be more responsive.

Now we’ve defined what it means to us, how can we allow our users to choose this option for their roles and how can they view it? What does it look like? Taa-dah!

Now, our employer users can choose if they would like their job to be exclusive to HH. If they choose to do this, they will see the pink badge appear next to the job title around the site.

The agency users will also be able to view this badge when they browse the ‘Jobs Search’ page, jobs index page and on the job profile.

As ever, please let us know what you think when you encounter this.

What is Hiring Hub?
